Bishop Jerzy Maculewicz

Jerzy Maculewicz, O.F.M. Conv. He was born on May 30, 1955, in Daszew (in the Soviet Union—now Ukrainian territory) and attended a technical institute. From 1975 to 1979, he worked as an electrician at a company in Katowice. In 1989, he entered the Order of Friars Minor Conventual (Province of Kraków). He made his solemn profession on October 2, 1994, and that same year completed his theological studies at the "Saint Bonaventure" Pontifical Faculty of Theology, where he obtained a Licentiate in Theology in 1997. He was ordained a priest on June 22, 1996. After various pastoral assignments, he was elected Vicar and Provincial Secretary of the Conventual Franciscan Province of Kraków in 2000. Since 2001, he has served as the Order's Assistant General for Eastern Europe. He speaks Polish, Italian, and Russian.
