Bishop of Feldkirch; Apostolic Administrator of Vaduz
Benno Elbs was born on October 16, 1960, in Bregenz. After obtaining a diploma in Logotherapy and Existential Analysis, he pursued theological studies in Innsbruck, eventually earning a Doctorate in Theology. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Feldkirch in 1986 and subsequently appointed assistant parish priest in Bregenz and a teacher of religion. In 1989, he was named spiritual director of the "Marianum" in Bregenz, becoming its rector the following year. In 1994, he was appointed head of the diocesan pastoral office and a member of both the College of Consultors and the diocesan finance council. In 2005, he was appointed Vicar General to Bishop Elmar Fischer. Following the Bishop's resignation on November 15, 2011, the diocesan consultors elected Monsignor Benno Elbs as Diocesan Administrator.
