Archbishop Jesús González de Zárate Salas, Archbishop of Valencia en Venezuela, was born on December 27, 1960, in Caracas, Libertador Municipality, Venezuela, in the Diocese of Caracas Santiago de Venezuela. He was ordained a priest for Caracas on January 11, 1986. On October 15, 2007, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Suava and Auxiliary Bishop of Caracas. He received episcopal ordination on January 12, 2008, at Caracas, with Jorge Liberato Urosa Savino as principal consecrator and Baltazar Enrique Porras Cardozo and Ubaldo Ramón Santana Sequera as co-consecrators. On May 24, 2018, he was appointed Archbishop of Cumaná. He was installed as Archbishop of Cumaná on August 5, 2018. On June 28, 2024, he was appointed Archbishop of Valencia en Venezuela. He was installed as Archbishop of Valencia en Venezuela on September 21, 2024.
