Bishop Domenico Pompili

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Verona presented by H.E. Msgr. Giuseppe Zenti and has appointed H.E. Msgr. Domenico Pompili, hitherto Bishop of Rieti, as Bishop of the same Diocese. H.E. Msgr. Domenico Pompili, Bishop of Verona: Msgr. Pompili was born on May 21, 1963, in Rome and was ordained a priest on August 6, 1988, for the Diocese of Anagni-Alatri. Following his priestly ordination, he held various pastoral roles and offices within the Diocese of Anagni-Alatri and obtained a Doctorate in Moral Theology in 2001 from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. In 2005, he was appointed as an assistant within the General Secretariat of the Italian Episcopal Conference, specifically working with Sat 2000 and Radio in-Blu. He subsequently served as Secretary of the *Comunicazione e Cultura* (Communication and Culture) Foundation, a member of the Italian Committee for the Support of Youth Pastoral Initiatives (CISIP), a member of the Board of Directors of the daily newspaper *Avvenire*, and a lecturer in Moral Theology at the Leonian Theological Institute in Anagni. From 2007, he served as Director of the National Office for Social Communications of the Italian Episcopal Conference and, from 2009, as its Under-Secretary. Appointed Bishop of Rieti on May 15, 2015, he received episcopal consecration on the following September 5. On October 29, 2020, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Ascoli Piceno, a role he held until November 28, 2021. Within the Italian Episcopal Conference, he serves as President of the Episcopal Commission for Culture and Social Communications.
