Bishop of Vinh
Alphonse Nguyen Huu Long, P.S.S., was born in Hanoi on January 25, 1953. He received his priestly formation from 1965 to 1972 at the Saint John Minor Seminary in Da Nang, and subsequently, from 1972 to 1978, at the Hoa Binh Major Seminary in the same diocese. From 1978 to 1982, he performed civil service in Quang Nam province. He was ordained a priest on December 29, 1990, incardinated into the Diocese of Da Nang, and joined the Society of the Priests of Saint Sulpice. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1990–1994: Parochial Vicar of Tam Ky, Diocese of Da Nang; 1994–1998: Studies for a Licentiate in Canon Law at the Institut Catholique in Paris, France; 1999–2001: Parish Priest of Ha Lam, Diocese of Da Nang; 2001–2003: Parish Priest of Tra Kieu, Diocese of Da Nang; 2003–2011: Spiritual Director and Professor of Canon Law, Church History, and Catechesis at the Major Seminary of Hue. Since 2011, he has served as Rector of the Major Seminary of Hue.
