Bishop Pierre Huynh Văn Hai

Peter Huỳnh Văn Hai was born on May 18, 1954, in Bến Tre, in the Diocese of Vĩnh Long. In 1966, he entered the Minor Seminary of Vĩnh Long, and a few years later, the Saint Sulpice Major Seminary of Vĩnh Long. In 1978, he returned to his family due to the prevailing historical and political circumstances. In 1991, he re-entered the Vĩnh Long Seminary to complete his formation. He was ordained a priest on August 31, 1994, and incardinated into the Diocese of Vĩnh Long. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1994–2004: studies at the Institut Catholique de Paris in France, where he obtained a Doctorate in Philosophy; 2004–2008: person in charge of vocations for the Diocese of Vĩnh Long; from 2008: lecturer in Philosophy at the Major Seminary of Cần Thơ and the Major Seminary of Ho Chi Minh City. Since 2012, he has served as Vice-Rector of the Major Seminary of Cần Thơ.
