Bishop Justin Ain Soongie

Bishop Justin Ain Soongie, Bishop of Wabag, Papua New Guinea, was born on 2 June 1973 in Tsikiro in the Diocese of Wabag, Papua New Guinea. Originally from Enga Province, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Wabag on 11 May 2005. After completing postulancy from 1993 to 1994 and novitiate from 1995 to 1996 with the Brothers of Charity, he continued his formation toward the priesthood at Good Shepherd Seminary-Fatima from 1997 to 1999 and at the Catholic Theological Institute, Bomana, from 2002 to 2004. In 2014 he obtained a licentiate in Moral Theology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome. After ordination he held the following assignments: in 2005, parish vicar in Tsikiro; from 2005 to 2006, parish vicar in Mang and Mariant; from 2006 to 2011, parish priest in Mang; from 2011 to 2014, studies for the licentiate in Sacred Theology in Rome at the Pontifical Urbaniana University; from 2014, parish priest in Sari; from 2014, vicar general of the Diocese of Wabag; and from 2014, lecturer at Banz Seminary in the Archdiocese of Mt. Hagen.
