Bishop of Yola
Stephen Dami Mamza was born on November 30, 1969, in Bazza, Adamawa State, within the Diocese of Maiduguri. After completing his primary education at Ldaba Primary School in Bazza (1976–1982) and his secondary education at St. Peter’s Minor Seminary in Yola (1983–1988), he pursued studies in Philosophy at the Major Seminary in Makurdi (1988–1991) and in Theology at St. Augustine’s Major Seminary in Jos (1991–1995). He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Maiduguri on April 13, 1996. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: Parish Vicar in Maiduguri (1996–1997); Diocesan Director of Vocations (1997–2003); Parish Priest of Michika and Yaffa parishes (1997–1999); Parish Priest of St. Andrew’s Parish, Mubi (1999–2005); and Parish Priest of St. Timothy’s and St. Rita’s parishes in Maiduguri, as well as Diocesan Coordinator of the Justice, Peace, and Development Commission (2005–2009). Since 2009, he has been in Ireland, attending the Kimmage Development Study Centre at Holy Ghost College in Dublin to obtain a Master’s degree in Human Development. He also served as a member of the College of Consultors and as Diocesan Director of Projects.
