Vicar Apostolic of Zamora en Ecuador
Jaime Oswaldo Castillo Villacrés is Vicar Apostolic of Zamora en Ecuador. He was born in Nambacola, in the canton of Gonzanamá, in the Province of Loja. He completed primary and secondary studies in Nambacola, studied philosophy at the Major Seminary of Loja from 1992 to 1994, and studied theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome from 1994 to 1998. He was ordained a priest on 11 September 1998. He served as parish vicar at El Sagrario in Loja in 2000; parish priest of San Isidro Labrador Parish and chaplain of the Monastery of Poor Clare Nuns in Loja from 2001 to 2003; diocesan delegate for communications in Loja from 2001 to 2003; professor at the Reina de El Cisne Major Seminary in Loja from 2001 to 2004; vicar of the Shrine of Nuestra Señora de El Cisne and director of the shrine radio in Loja from 2003 to 2004; formator at the Reina de El Cisne Major Seminary from 2008 to 2009; parish priest of Vicentino in Puyango, Loja, in 2010; diocesan delegate for youth ministry in Loja from 2011 to 2013; chaplain of Hogar María Bordoni and Escuela Mater Dei in Loja from 2011 to 2013; member of the diocesan pastoral council in Loja from 2011 to 2013; parish priest of San Juan Evangelista in Chambo, Diocese of Riobamba, from 2013 to 2015; diocesan delegate for vocational ministry in the Diocese of Riobamba from 2013 to 2017; member of the diocesan pastoral council in the Diocese of Riobamba from 2013 to 2017; formator at Cristo Buen Pastor Major Seminary in the Diocese of Riobamba from 2013 to 2017; parish priest of San Miguel de Pungalá in the Diocese of Riobamba from 2016 to 2017; rector of the Reina de El Cisne Major Seminary in the Diocese of Loja in 2017; president of the Organization of Seminaries of Ecuador in 2018; and representative of the Bolivarian countries in the organization of Latin American seminaries, OSLAM 2018. He was ordained the sixth Bishop of Zamora on 23 January 2021.
