Prelate of Pompei o Beatissima Vergine Maria del Santissimo Rosari
Prelate Tommaso Caputo, Prelate of Pompei, or Blessed Virgin Mary of the Most Holy Rosary, Italy, was born in Afragola, Naples, on 17 October 1950. He was ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Naples on 10 April 1974. He obtained a licentiate in theology and a degree in canon law. He served as vice pastor in San Benedetto all'Arco Mirelli Parish in Naples and was a religion teacher in state schools. After entering the diplomatic service of the Holy See on 25 March 1980, he subsequently served in the pontifical representations in Rwanda, the Philippines, Venezuela, and finally at the Secretariat of State. He was appointed head of protocol of the Secretariat of State on 19 June 1993. He was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Malta and Libya on 3 September 2007. He knows English, French, and Spanish.
