Bishop of Stamford (Ukrainian)
Paul Patrick Chomnycky, O.S.B.M., was born on May 19, 1954, in Vancouver, British Columbia. After attending local primary and secondary schools, he enrolled at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, where he earned a diploma in commerce. Upon entering the Basilian Order of Saint Josaphat, he studied philosophy at the Pontifical Athenaeum of Saint Anselm in Rome and theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. After making his perpetual profession in January 1988, he was ordained a priest on October 1 of the same year. Following his ordination, he served as an assistant pastor, pastor, and superior. On April 5, 2002, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Buffada and Apostolic Exarch for Ukrainian faithful of the Byzantine rite residing in Great Britain.
