Bishop of Uije
Joaquim Nhanganga Tyombe was born on November 22, 1969, in Mambandi-Cacula, Huíla Province, within the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Lubango. He studied at the Christ the King Philosophical Seminary in Huambo and the Good Shepherd Seminary in Benguela. From 1996 to 2000, he attended St. John Vianney Seminary in Pretoria, South Africa, obtaining his Baccalaureate in 2001. He was ordained a priest on November 24, 2001, for the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Lubango. Following his ordination, he held the following positions and pursued further studies: Parish Priest and Superior of the Our Lady Queen of the World Mission in Bibala and Camucuio, Diocese of Namibe (2001–2006); a training course in Participatory Planning and Management of Community Projects in Bibala-Namibe (2003–2004); Director of the *Instituto de Ciências Religiosas de Angola* (ICRA) in Lubango (2006–2010); Parochial Vicar of the Lubango Cathedral; and member of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Secretariat and the Presbyteral Council. He earned a Doctorate in Systematic Theology from the *Universidade Católica Portuguesa* in Lisbon (2010–2012) and a Master’s degree in School Administration from the *Instituto Universitário de Lisboa* (ISCTE-IUL) (2012–2016). He served as Parochial Vicar at the *Santos Rei Magos do Campo Grande* parish in Lisbon (2010–2016) and, from 2016 to the present, has served as Rector and lecturer at the Father Leonardo Sikufinde Major Theological Seminary in Lubango.
