Bishop Evans Chinyama Chinyemba

Bishop Evans Chinyama Chinyemba, O.M.I., was born on 9 August 1967 in Lukulu, which then belonged to the Diocese of Livingstone and currently to that of Mongu. He attended primary and secondary schools in Lukulu, first with the Christian Brothers and then in state schools. In 1991 he entered the pre-novitiate of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, United States Province. After the novitiate carried out in South Africa, he went to Rome, where he obtained the baccalaureate in philosophy and in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. He made perpetual profession as an Oblate of Mary Immaculate on 6 January 1999 and was ordained a priest in Lukulu on 19 August 2000, during the Great Jubilee. After priestly ordination, he held the following ministries: 2000-2009, director of the pre-novitiate of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate of Lusaka; 2005-2009, vicar superior of the O.M.I. Delegation of Zambia and pastor of St. Leopold in Shang'ombo, in the Diocese of Mongu, from August to December 2009. Since 2009 he has been superior of the O.M.I. Delegation of Zambia.
